Sacraments

Experience the transformative power of God’s love through our worship services, ministries, and community outreach programs.

Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament in the Catholic Church. It is a special ceremony where a child is welcomed into the Christian faith. During baptism, the child is usually sprinkled with holy water, symbolizing the cleansing of sin and the start of a new life in Christ. It is a joyful occasion for families, as the child becomes a member of the Church and begins their spiritual journey.

First Reconciliation and First Communion

First Reconciliation and First Communion are important events for Catholic children.
First Reconciliation is when children confess their sins to a priest for the first time and receive God’s forgiveness.
First Communion is when they receive the Eucharist, the body and blood of Christ, for the first time during Mass. Both ceremonies help children grow closer to God and are celebrated with joy by their families and church community.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a sacrament in the Catholic Church where a person strengthens their faith and receives the Holy Spirit. It typically happens when a child reaches the age of reason, usually around 12 or 13, and is ready to confirm their commitment to the Church. During the ceremony, the bishop or priest anoints the person with holy oil and lays hands on them, symbolizing the gift of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation helps individuals grow in their faith and become more active members of the Church.

Marriage

Matrimony is the sacrament in the Catholic Church by which “a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life” (CCC 1601). With the blessing of God and the Church – in the presence of family and friends – a couple who enters into marriage celebrates a union of love that is oriented toward each other’s good and towards procreation.
